Actually I know Africa pretty well, having lived and worked in 4 African countries in my lifetime. There are currently plenty of wars in Africa. That doesn't mean its our business to intervene in them.
Which African countries did you ave in mined here?
Did I imply that we should necessarily intervene everywhere? But they aren’t nice people and if we get the opportunity killing some of them its a good idea. As a global power we have *some* interests nearly everywhere.
I don’t have to have mined in Africa to know of AQIM in North Africa. AQ has also been in Khartoum since the late 80’s, made their first foray into Somalia in ‘92 and never left.
Though in Somalia their assistance has waxed & waned over the years. Al Shabab has some AQ influence but is not a full franchise like AQIM.
AQ influence is pretty much everywhere in the Horn.
Did you forget ‘98 when AQ bombed our embassies in Kenya & Tanzania?
Of course there are plenty of ISIL affiliates and no shortage of home-grown Islamist groups just as bad elsewhere. Like Boko Haram in Nigeria.
In recent years Russia via Wagner mercs have teamed up with many Islamist groups in Africa to attack our interests there as well.
