Given the statistics on restaurant/bar failures, questioning someone who has managed to stay in business for 32 years in one of the most expensive commercial real estate markets in the world is sort of funny to me for some reason.
When I was going to Columbia in the 1950s, I lived in an apartment on Morningside Drive. I used to buy a bucket of beer (a cardboard bucket that held about a gallon) in a little grocery shop on Amsterdam Avenue around the corner). It cost about two dollars if I remember correctly. So I understand the line in “Frankie and Johnie were Lovers.”
