Bullsh!t. The vast majority of informed Republicans knew that Irvin was nothing more that your average black Democrat dressed up in Republican clothing.
He may have been harder to beat than Bailey but if elected he would have governed like your typical Illinois Democrat.
Either Baily or Sullivan would govern as a conservative.
This is going to keep happening until Republican voters get smart. Not the only such incidence of this.

This really got to be ridiculous. There was one ad attacking Irvin because he had said a number of positive things about Pritzker, and it was paid for by JB for Governor. Of course, thinking about it later, I could see how it could be used to help Bailey, but it could also be used against Irvin if he had been nominated. If Irvin likes Pritzker, why is he running?
People do need to be aware of who is buying the ads. They also need to be aware that most ads are manipulative BS.
Gov. should be running on a treadmill, NOT for governor.
I carefully looked at all of them and for me Bailey was the best choice.
Hopefully Pritzker will have his cousin “Jennifer” from Kentucky campaign on his behalf.
Pritzker only needs 5 counties to win. And he will get them.
