Most of the world is a slow dangle and strangle.
In Iran, to cite just one example of many, the condemned are hoisted up by crane so the people in back of the crowd get the full show of the victim, eyes bugging out, face swollen and purple, anguished choking, kicking and flailing.
It makes a better object lesson...
