To: struggle

They were doing CPR on the scene, not sure alive is the correct term at this point. I think it’s like the NYPD rules, no police officer dies at the scene, they always pass at the ER. They are just trying to get everyone on the same script before they make the official announcement.

I have a friend that was a volunteer firefighter and he told of the time the wife found her husband dead in bed and called 911. He and another guy were first on scene.

The man was blue and cold, but they pulled him off the bed onto the floor and did CPR until the aid-car with the medics came and they continued CPR and oxygen as they left the house.

“Blue and cold - wasn’t he dead?”

“Of course he was, probably for hours, but our policy is to let the medics or the doctors make the declaration. Plus, then we don’t have to deal with telling the grieving family member!”
