I mean if we are being honest here, the demographics did switch sides around the 60s and 70s, and it’s kind of a “gotcha” comment to call the Democratic party KKK even though they were but it’s still funny to do

Republicans were historically the “rich city man’s” party while Democrats were “poor working class”, which included the rural working class whites in the South. But Dems started pandering to minorities in the 60s and Reps focused to grab that lost “southern poor white” demographic. Nixon’s “southern strategy”, and George Wallace and the Dixiecrats breaking away from the Dem party etc., a pivotal moment when LBJ signed the Civil Rights Act and Barry Goldwater opposed it. That is a lie!   Only one Dixiecrat Senator changed parties but not because the Republican Party suddenly changed at all.
