“The focus of the “March for Life’ effort will shift so as to organize multiple somewhat smaller Marches for Life occurring yearly at the several state capitals of those states where abortion remains legal.”
I agree.
However, I don’t discount the energy from the Left behind the pro-abortion folks, and fully expect, as I said, their attempts to use the U.S. Congress in attempts to legislate a right to abortion, with merely a federal law.
Unless and until the U.S. Congress and POTUS combine to actually pass such a federal law, the March for Life movement needs to disperse from D.C. and roll up in their millions, like General Sherman, ruthlessly taking the fight to the Dirty State Capitals, where state legislators have been enjoying a nearly 50-year respite from careful scrutiny and being held responsible for their actions, or inaction, as the case may be.
They better be careful if they try that. A federal law could be challenged and end up in the Supreme court where they might just uphold an across the nation federal right to life as stated in the Declaration. (Comparing it to the emancipation proclamation.) They better just take it to the states where it belongs.
Or if they try, using the commerce clause as DoodleDawg says they might, we might just end up overturning a whole lot of unconstitutional garbage that they’ve used the commerce clause to justify these past 50+ years.
