I know this is a tough position to hold on FR, but here goes…
I used to be anti-union, and had plenty of ammo to back that up with.
Not all unions are equal. I’m proud to be part of a union that has high standards and we do and have drummed people out that weren’t up to snuff. We all have the attitude that we don’t want to work with a turd, so they get forced out 1 way or another.
In my industry/job the people in the union versus non-union make more money (even with dues) and have better benefits than the non-unionized. We aren’t greedy, we are even below the nation-wide industry standards.
Unions are good when the hands understand what they have, and work to protect it.

Good to read that. I was a traditional labor lawyer for 35 years (first two representing unions, then 33 years for the feds as a neutral). There are good unions and bad ones. One good union in particular, where the international president was paid the same contract wage as the highest paid member that the union had been able to negotiate with an employer. No stereotypical fat guy smoking a cigar.

>> Unions are good

Not really. But I don’t GAS regarding the private sector.

It’s the public sector unions that must be outlawed. The taxpayer is not represented in the negotiations.
