Alabama voters Tuesday will choose party nominees for offices up and down the ballot, ending a primary campaign largely focused on culture war issues and personal backgrounds.
State Republicans will choose their nominees for U.S. Senate, secretary of state, state auditor and the Alabama Public Service Commission. Democrats will choose a nominee for governor.
One would need an electron microscope to determine ideological differences between the candidates. The campaigns and arguments have centered around personal qualities and qualifications.
If traditional trends hold, it will likely be a small group of Alabamians who make the decisions about the next round of nominees. Turnout for the May 24 primary was 23%, and runoff turnout tends to be lower, as voters are restricted to voting for the party for which they cast a primary ballot. Secretary of State John Merrill said Thursday the office expected turnout to land between 10 and 15%, though he said it was “important to remember turnout in the primary was very low.”

This is a very important election! As usual, the MSM gets it all wrong. Katie Britt is one BIG RINO with huge sums of money from retiring RINO Senator Shelby. She has been hand-picked by McConnel and Shelby to replace Shelby.
In addition, Trump supports Britt. What a disaster! Just like Trump supported vaccinating the country he now supports a RINO!
“Katie Britt is one BIG RINO with huge sums of money from retiring RINO Senator Shelby.”
She’s most likely going to win. She has PAC and her own campaign commercials running constantly during the local news. I will vote for Mo.
Voting for Mo as well.
Trump seems to think the he can persuade Britt to his side by giving her his endorsement. Unfortunately, he has a dismal record of persuading people to his side (e.g., Romney, Barr, Sessions, Linda, Pence .... and many others come to mind)
“She’s most likely going to win. She has PAC and her own campaign commercials running constantly during the local news. I will vote for Mo.”
I’m so afraid you are right. I’m voting for Mo as well.
There are two messages here. One, Trump just moved down a few notches on my “like scale.” Two, if McConnel is for Katie Britt then I’m sure against her. She will likely be another Doug Jones with an R in front of her title.
