People are still attempting to figure out how to celebrate this new national holiday. So far they have settled upon random shootings and looting.

Unexpectedly! Actually was in The District this evening. Lots of pedestrians out and about and everyone seems to be cool and having a good time. An absolutely beautiful evening weather-wise. We were in Northwest and Northeast.
Nothing says celebrating the end of slavery by twerking on cars

The shooting was around 14th and U Street NW—near Jeni’s Ice Cream Parlor, where Nancy Pelosi gets her ice cream. It’s also near Ben’s Chile Bowl, which really does serve good chile.

HISTORY: Not all slaves were freed by the Emancipation Proclamation, nor via Juneteenth. Only the slaves of the REBEL states were freed then. Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation was a wartime effort to split and weaken the South; he did NOT free any slaves in the Northern states. Slaves in the non-rebelling border states had to wait for the 13th Amendment, effective December 18, 1865.
