When you're the employee, and you start making demands against the management and ownership, you're looking to get fired. But, those employees probably had other ideas in mind and are likely now being sought by the liberal media to vilify Musk and republicans.

They probably saw what happened at some other companies, like the New York Times, in which wokesters in the newsroom demanded, and got, the firing of an editor who published an editorial by Tom Cotton supporting use of the National Guard against Antifa/BLM rioters. So they thought they could go for it.
