BISMARCK, N.D. (AP)— Republican contests for more than two dozen legislative seats may help lure voters to North Dakota’s primary elections.

The high number of intraparty contests in legislative races is the result of redistricting.

About three dozen unendorsed candidates filed petitions to get on the ballot.

In statewide races, U.S. Sen. John Hoeven is seen as a shoo-in for a third term in the Republican primary over political newcomer Riley Kuntz.

Democrats endorsed Katrina Christenson. She also faces a little-known challenger.

North Dakota has no voter registration.

State Census Office Manager Kevin Iverson estimates almost 590,000 people are eligible to vote in Tuesday’s election. Turnout in June primaries historically is around 25%.

“North Dakota has no voter registration. “

What does that even mean?

Showing proof of birth date and residency allows one to vote in ND, and thereafter one is in the state’s list of voters via county auditors. Not sure why they pretend that’s not registration like most other states.

One does not have to register to vote. Strange but true. North Dakota also has its own state bank for loans primarily to farmers because they did not trust Minnesota banks. The also have a State Grainery. They have a statewide lottery to draw for the one day deer season letting the person know whether they can take a doe or buck. Schools and business close for that one day season. They state pays farmers and landowners to allow everyone to hunt.

Also, the North Dakota state legislature meets for only sixty days every two years. Most of the legislators have full time jobs or careers.

When I registered to vote in Connecticut shortly after my 18th birthday, I had to take a pledge. I like that better than just showing your age and residency.

Yep.

Proof of citizenship should be required too.

Most voting laws, especially in rural states, date to when illegals were rare and were not a threat because they wanted to be loyal Americans. Times change, even if RINOs don’t.

Thanks.

The issue of citizenship is ignored?

Reagan admitted that amnesty was his worst mistake as President.

Amnesty is death to America.

Not something to be cheered on.
