Lack of sunlight is huge. I don’t know what the solution could be but I think there has to be something. Also, things were looking up for them with the jobs provided by ANWAR, but that’s gone now.

Suicide is high among all “native” American groups across the nation. It is due to the high rates of alcohol, drug, and sexual abuse that happen in native communities.
Alaska is no different in that aspect. The lack of sun and extreme cold in the winter doesn’t help.
In Scandinavian countries they use tanning beds to treat people. It seems to help. Our bodies need a certain amount of sunlight (ultraviolet radiation really).
