I really enjoyed the heck out of it too on IMAX. I guess I’m one of the few who really thought the first Top Gun was a bit overrated. But I loved this one especially given the climate in Hollywood and in our country in general. Not even a hint of wokeness. Sure, the team of fighters assembled for the mission was diverse enough but identity politics didn’t go anywhere beyond that. As the reviewer wrote, it was just great action that showed America and the American military positively.

Two big thumbs up from me.

I never cared much for the first one, but absolutely LOVED this one. Just fantastic on so many levels. So much more depth than the first. It was so respectful about everything it did, from posthumously adding Don Simpson back as producer to how it presented Iceman, to how it delved more deeply into Maverick’s character motivations without being preachy or trite.

Just fantastic all around. I wasn’t even a big fan of the first one, but when Tom Cruise said at the beginning that he made it for US, by the end of the movie, I fully understood what he meant. I totally got why it was so important to them to release it properly after all the plannedemic bullcrap. was done.

And the practical effects showed up the MCU CGI junk for the boring garbage that it is.

Not even a hint of wokeness.

I see people say this a lot and yet when I watched it, the "wokeness" was quite blatant.

10 top best pilots in the Navy and we get two women, one of which is a Hispanic lesbian "Mary Sue", two black guys and one or more Asians.

This is a "diversity" cast, and I find it highly unlikely that this is how a group picked solely on merit would come out, given that white guys probably make up 80% of the Navy's aviation force.

Of course the Hispanic Lesbian is one of the people chosen for the Mission (GIRRRRLLLL POWWERRR!!!!)and the other one is one of the black guys.

The black guy might have been plausible a few years ago, but now they are deliberately pushing them forward into the limelight because they want to send a "Black Lives Matter" message to everyone. We are seeing this in commercials, tv shows and movies now, and it is "woke" stuff.

The thing was quite "woke."
