Trump couldn’t get Ryan and McConnell to help him at all
during his first two years. When Ryan was gone, he didn’t
have the majority any longer, so no he couldn’t do better
on the health care issue during his four years.

You didn’t grasp this?

Tell me, did Ryan and McConnell help Trump get funding
for the wall? NO!

That’s about all you need to know, to know that what Trump
accomplished, he accomplished pretty much on his own.

You’re an idiot.

Looking at Trump’s record, he is the best president since
Reagan. Knowing that, you chose to offer up a statement
like that using names like Dole and McCain in your
response.

In some ways Trump was better than Reagan. His approach
to the illegal immigration issue, wasn’t an amnesty. He
stated he would build a wall, and he got half of it done
by running around Congress to do it.

Trump has more than earned a second term based on his own
merits and accomplishments.

Yes, he deserves a second term.

And you know what, if you don’t know the difference between
Dole/McCain and Trump, you’re on the wrong forum.

"..Trump couldn’t get Ryan and McConnell to help him at all during his first two years..."

Grasp this...

Trump and Ryan did cooperate.

Thank the Lord they failed.

You really are doing your best to front for the GOP/RNC, but
there isn’t anyone who thinks Ryan and McConnell helped
Trump during his first two years with a full majority.

So it’s your take that Trump wanted a wall, tried to get it
funded, and then failed to get Congress to do so, that
represents Ryan and McConnell working with Trump?

Don’t bring in the Lord when you’re lying your ass off.

One where people back things that are best for the nation.

You don’t even know that Dole and McCain are nothing like
Trump.

The only people who don’t recognize that fact, are the GOP
and RNC.

You outed yourself bud.

Correction:

Should have read:

Sorry, thought I was clear about the Trump / Ryan cooperation being their lovefest over TrumpRyanCare.

I was not talking about the wall.

I'll thank the Lord when I see fit. And I saw fit when those two failed to impose what the more Freedom-oriented members (HFC) opposed.

You’ve made it quite clear what you’ll pull the Lord’s name
into. Never mind that it turns into more of a slander than
a praise of God.

Once again, the GOPe and the RNC are the only two entities
that think Ryan and McConnell were helping Trump during his
first two years in office.

This is what you wish to toss aside, to get anyone but
Trump into office, by using DeSantis as a straw horse.

"....only two entities that think Ryan and McConnell were helping Trump during his first two years in office."

Trump was helping Ryan. Against the HFC and Freedom in general.

Trump and McConnell helped each other, bigly, on judicial appointments. Perhaps Trump's best and certainly most lasting accomplishment.

I still don't think Mitch deserves another 'turn' as leader next cycle.

It's America. You are free do vote based on a 'his turn' system. And I'm free to employ a more objectively Freedom-based choice.

Trump was told by Ryan and McConnell and the GOP/RNC that
the only move was to modify Obamacare. You conveniently
left that out.

Knowing it needed to be altered some way, Trump opted to go
with what he was told was the only way to get support.

Take a look at the votes in Congress, and tell me the more
Conservative approach was an option in the first two years
of Trump’s term in office. That’s utter nonsense and you
damn well know it. If you don’t, just shut up.

NO! McConnell did the bare minimum on Judicial appointments.
He could have helped vet them, but his only move was to
pass whoever Trump nominated. I saw no evidence whatsoever
of McConnell trying to ward off more moderate justices.

Him having a long career in the Senate, he was obviously
the person who could have aided a new first term
president. Did he really? No! He went through the
motions. (IMO) These were GOPe nods...

Trump doesn’t know these justices. He takes recommendations
and those often turn out to be wildly worse than we want.

No Mitch hasn’t deserved to be re-elected in decades.

You obviously haven’t read the list of things Trump
accomplished rather than offer up your bland generalization
laced anti Trump rhetoric.

We’ve had people come here and try to foist off the wishes
of the GOP/RNC on us for decades. Sorry, your claim to
Freedom-Based choice is idiotic.

Anyone who claims the GOPe/RNC goals are Freedom-based
is a nut-job.

Yes, based on Trump’s record I’ll certainly go by the
“his turn” option here.

As smart a move as this is,

I do not believe trump would do it.

In a cosmetic way, that is a very good plan. Wow does it
look good, and for great reasons. Here’s the problem from
my point of view.

We have a full raging takeover of this nation going on right
now. It has never been this bad, and by the time January,
20th, 2025 comes along, it’s only going to get worse,
perhaps much much worse.

At a time when the Leftist onslaught is at its highest, is
it a grand idea to take Florida’s great leader away? It
could lead to some rampant Leftist adventurism. I think
DeSantis could handle anything thrown his way down there,
so that isn’t the problem. The problem would be removing
DeSantis in that national environment. We desperately
need to hang on to Florida, and he is the linchpin that
sees that happen.

When Trump comes back in January 2025, he’ll calm the waters
by the end of his term. At that point, it would be a good
idea to make the switch to DeSantis then. It would happen
in a more stable environment. I support that.

I don’t think it’s a good idea to move DeSantis out to
put him on Trump’s ticket, as much as I would actually like
to see that.

If the Leftist movement gains traction in Florida, we will
never see another guy like Trump or DeSantis elected at the
federal level.

The Left would have a lock on the Electoral College.

Agreed. Who is saying such things as this?

"...just shut up."

No.

You just got through championing Mitch and Paul’s support of
Trump in his first two years in office.

You don’t have to say you support the GOPe / RNC party line.

You’ve already made it clearer than if you had said it.

Go ahead and pop off. I’ll call you on it every time I
notice it.

"...championing Mitch and Paul’s support of Trump in his first two years..."

Again... it was Trump who was absolutely, whole-heartedly supporting Ryan!

And, again, I was opposed to both on that issue. As was the House Freedom Caucus, the rare good guys on the Hill.

You claimed that Ryan and McConnell gave Trump their full
support in his first two years in office. I stated that
was a GOPe/RNC postion, because almost nobody on this
site agrees with that. True Conservatives do not
subscribe to that position. PERIOD!

I mentioned the background on the one issue you keep harping
on, but you have chosen to ignore it to wildly flail where
you’ve wildly flailed prior to this, to only be called on
it.

The lack of funding for the border wall during the first
two years of Trump’s term, completely obliterates your
argument here. You evidently don’t have the tools to
grasp that.

You’ve got one issue and I covered it above, explaining
what you chose to leave out of that topic.

https://freerepublic.com/focus/news/4069563/posts?page=71#71

I have an extensive list of good things Trump did. You
have chosen to ignore it. Now most folks can ignore you.

This is what you wish to toss aside, to get anyone but
Trump into office, by using DeSantis as a straw horse.

Don’t forget that Reagan ran against President Ford in 1976, and it didn’t hurt Reagan’s political career.

I don't think DeSantis will run against Trump because he respects Trump and wouldn't want to undermine Trump's 2024 run with a contested primary. It could be argued that Ronald Reagan's primary challenge undermined Ford's re-election run against Carter.
