We have 2 more modern vehicles, but also a 2000 pickup. The old truck looks like heck but is good for trips ‘around town’. Everything is manual (windows for example have to be rolled down) & I doubt it has many chips. Gas mileage isn’t great, but better than our ‘modern’ vehicles.
The local stores may end up having to install hitching posts the way things are headed. We have enough room for horses (had them here for 40 years) & with the fertilizer shortage, the manure would come in handy. The Amish & Mennonites who have buggies will do just fine. :-)
Live in a subdivision. We have a older Equinox we keep when we need to go different directions at the same time. Usually dr appointments. Grocery store is less than 3 miles, wonder if my battary wheelchair would make it there and back. Next town is in the next BLUE county. Which is the Crime Capitol, Covid Capitol of TN...Memphis. Police Chief, black female has been robbed twice, hasn’t made a dent on her dumb soft on crime ideology.
Some idiot suggested to buy a generator for the Blackouts/brown outs. With gas at $5 a gallon, and had no idea how they run. Or how to safely run one. Or what 2 weeks of no electricity would be like. We live in the South 110 heat index. But we are also Tornado Alley, Madrid Fault, Ice Storms, or occassionally snow, strong winds, flood, We have gas heat, electric stove, Endless hot water tank. Gas BBQ for alternative cooking, Gas log fire place. But gasoline needs special storage and at $5 a gal in a 5 gal can won’t last long in a generator. Besides all of Memphis’ criminals will be looking for what you have. You best be armed. Many in this 7,000 pop town are retired Military.
