The GE is absolutely necessary for utilizing the artillery weapons already in theater.
LR artillery requires specialized UAVs to spot and correct fire at distance. The Orcs have Orlon-10s which do this and is main reason Orc artillery is so deadly for UA troops.
The UA has only short ranged limited and mostly commercial kit drones which cannot fly more than 20km in the best of conditions.
The Orcs are perfectly capable of locating the GE originating signal.

This is not true, because the final signal to the drone might just be a repeater with the original piloting being done far, far away.
