I have stressed that they need to withdraw and shorten their lines of defense.
Map out the distance around that pocket and then map a distance in a line that would be drawn for the new defensive line.

I would bet, that the mileage around the outside of that pocket is at least twice if not more than what a new defensive line would be.

Want to talk about stupid? That is stupid putting troops in a pocket like that and risk losing the whole works. Think about the Falaise pocket in WW2 The Germans dam near lost an entire army, and would have if Bradley woudlnt have halted Patton and the rest. Think of the Battle of the Bulge.

I understand that it would be leaving land to the Russians but remember this.

Gaining ground does not win wars. Destroying the enemy totally wins wars. And if these naybobs keep risking their troops in pockets like this, they will be defeated.

I watched the video twice and it was interesting seeing the various moves, counter moves examined, but I don’t think there is anything the Ukrainians could have done that would have resulted in them defeating Russia.

It’s not that they made a mistake. I agree with you that destroying the enemy is how you win a war. Russia went into this “special military operation” with just 15% of their artillery capability. They have held back their best and newest equipment because they believe they do not need it; but may need it in a subsequent escalation that our stupid deep state may yet create.

The Ukrainians were well trained and have fought well. But, they were massively outclassed. Russia has the second or best military in the world. And had the tactics and equipment they were using not suffice they would have escalated it until it did.

The Austrian spent an enormous amount of time examining each of the 9 Russian failed river crossings. But, referred to the actual battle determinant...”attriting” once. Yes, he showed a graphic of “stressed” Ukrainian troops...you bet they were stressed. Having everyone around you blow up can do that to a person...:-)

I’m no military analyst; but to me it is pretty clear what the Ukrainian problem is. They are dying in droves and their oponents are....

Russia has practically ceased to suffer losses during the special operation in Ukraine, this is the result of a change in the approach to the conduct of hostilities - Chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee Kartapolov.

“We have practically stopped losing people. The extreme figures released by the Ministry of Defense in March are 1,351 dead. At present, of course, there are wounded, but there are no such number of dead. And this is the result of a change in approach to the tactics of warfare,” he said.

According to Andrey Kartapolov, at the initial stage, when the Russian Armed Forces entered the territory under the control of Ukraine, no weapons were used. However, after the Russian military began to be shot and captured, the tactics were changed.

“Now this tactic is bringing tangible results,” concluded the parliamentarian.
