I’m guessing Dr. Z. will abscond with the bribe money given by Brandon to hush up about Brandon’s money farm in Ukraine.

America’s military would improve overnight if half of the generals and officers were forced to retire immediately and replaced with new blood.

I would cut over half of the General/Flag Officer billets. That would have a secondary benefit of eliminating their posses, which only serve to the aggrandizement of the generals.

Those who served in troop/major commands no more than two years ago would be retained. The remainder would be welcomed into retirement.

Not a perfect solution, but it's worth a shot.

From what I’ve read, he’s already evacuated his family. I would not be surprised if several suitcases full of greenbacks went with them.

The notion that if you don't view Zelenskyy with anything other than rose-colored Ray Bans, that makes you a Putin lover, is intellectually lazy.

I'm about ready to jump off the Ted Cruz bandwagon, whom I've supported since he first ran for Senate. He's gotten too cute by half, as shown by his vote in favor of sending $40 Billion to Ukraine and the Military Industrial Complex, without any means to account for this largesse.

“It’s over. Zelenskyy has done enough damage.”

If that’s the case then why does the headline clearly say:

“Russia bombards more than 40 Donbas towns”

Does Zelensky own and operate Russia? I thought that was your homohero Putin?

Many of The people of Donbass are Ukrainians of Russian ethnicity. And other minority ethnics.

After the US engineered Maidan coup of 2014, the new installed nationalist Kiev govt’s first act was to ban the use of Russian language in education and govt. The residents of these oblasts protested this as well as the coup itself….and bloody clashes led to murder of protesters and full civil war of the increasingly nationalist influenced Ukrainian military against these areas. Whose defense of their villages was provided by defected Ukraine military units supported by Russian weapons and advisors

The Donbass did not seek separation to join Russia. the Minsk agreements were brokered by France, Germany and Ukraine to stop the civil war and allow these oblasts some autonomy and political representation of their interests. Zelensky was elected to implement a peaceful solution using this framework. But both sides were in continuous violation since 2015 and over 13,000 deaths are estimated. The Kiev side was in great acceleration of attacks on these people from early this year, before the invasion. Russia expected a full military onslaught on Donbass and Crimea by Kiev to occur in March.

Only in Feb did these republics push for full independence. The Russian duma pushed this in February , perhaps even over Putin’s wishes to cross that line at this time.

The term “ Russian separatists” has been used by Kiev, the US, and the West for 8 years to disenfranchise and vilify the Donbass population and anyone in opposition to the nationalists from being considered as full Ukrainians, and depict them as Russian not Ukrainian.

Ok, they are not Russian separatists in the sense they were fighting for the nation of Russia, but from what I understand many are of Russian ethnicity, hence their country’s name, DPR.

No, but If I ever did I’d just stand next to you. By comparison I’m Stephen Hawkins.

Now go hump someone else’s leg.

Iron Jack Roberts,

Besides pretending you are a pirate and a military tactician, is there anything else you'd like to get off your chest?

"After the US engineered Maidan coup of 2014..."

I have never got a remotely sensible answer to these questions but what the heck.

1. What role do you think Yanukovych's deal with Putin in December 2013 (aka the 17 December 2013 Ukrainian–Russian action plan) had in terms of Euromaidan?

I guess it is possible that a completely unrelated period of American interdiction just conveniently happened to bear fruit at almost the exact same time as that deal was signed, and mere weeks before Yanukovych effectively sold Crimea to Russia, while hiding out IN Russia... But I can't see any rational basis for saying American action completely provoked the conflict and Yanukovych was an innocent victim of it all.

Pick ANY news source from a web search of "17 december 2013 yanokovych". What do you see? I see:

I just remain baffled that people think both Yanukovych and Azarov were blameless when it came to Euromaidan. Most of the Rada (albeit with some Communist party objectors) was united on developing trade relations with both Russia AND the EU.

2. Until he went to Putin's meeting, Yanukovych appeared to be in favor too. And only by doing deals in both directions could Ukraine stay neutral and preserve the spirit of the Budapest Memorandum. So what motivated the sudden pivot to rejecting the EU and accepting an exclusively pro-Russian deal?

Which brings me to a further question. America can impeach a President for lying, or having a kinky incident with an intern or on the basis of a mere rumor; the process does take time though so the US Constitution does provide a "break glass" mechanism where he can be ruled unfit for office (or irretrievably compromised / under coercion) and removed.

3. How unreasonable is it for Ukraine to NOT instigate a similar "break glass" process given (a) the government had collapsed and (b) Yanokovych had literally just tried to SELL A STATE (oblast) without its permission to Russia in violation of a 20 year old written agreement between Ukraine, Russia and the USA to NOT horse-trade its borders?

Don't forget, the minute Ukraine cedes ANY Oblast to Russia (whether fully or indirectly), the Budapest Memorandum ceases to apply. So what Yanukovych did was open up ALL of Ukraine to a hostile Russian takeover - precisely what the BM was intended to prevent.

It's barely possible to create a comparable scenario: Imagine Biden pushing Mexico's leaders to sign a deal that'd open the border fully, without any debate in Congress or anywhere else, give them a huge subsidy, pay off their debts, put a billion dollars into el Presidente's back pocket as a sweetener, and said "By the way, in return for all this generosity you must give us Sonora, Baja and Baja California Sur.". What do you think would happen when that leader got to Mexico City and said "Hombres, I've just signed a brilliant deal with the USA!"

All hell would break loose - and not just in Mexico. The whole of Latin America would go postal, and I very much doubt Russia would not get dragged into it by its allies in the region, e.g. Venezuela.
