"If it's my kid and I have a weapon, I'm going in the building. If I have to wax a cop to do it, I'm going in."

In reality, nobody knows how they would react at that given time. A person, armed or not, may not even be able to get near enough to enter the shooter's den. And if you wax a cop to show how brave you are, you'll either get yourself shot by a cop, or get yourself locked up afterwards. Either way, you won't be any help to your family. Being brave is nice, but being brave, and remaining alive is a whole 'nother thing. It's easy to say what we'd do in a given situation, but if actually faced with a life and death situation, nobody can predict how they would react. External factors play a big part, and nobody can guarantee how any of it will turn out. Common sense should prevail. You need to ask yourself, "If I do this, what could possibly go wrong...what could the repercussions be?"

At least I would have done SOMETHING. And hey, if I could take a coward cop or two with me, I could die smiling.
