The bishop and all ministers of the Holy Eucharist have the responsibility: (1) to safeguard its sacredness so that it is not treated sacrilegiously and (2) to do what he can so that those under his pastoral care do not compound their sins by receiving in an unworthy manner and who cause public scandal by doing so.
Mortal sin destroys charity in the heart of man by a grave violation of God’s law; it turns man away from God.
We choose Heaven or Hell. Unconfessed mortal sin will send someone to Hell at the time of death.
As Catholics, we need the Eucharist for our salvation. John 6:53 Otherwise we have no eternal life.
We need the priest to consecrate the Bread and Wine into the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ at Mass.
