Mitch McConnell Dings ‘Isolationist’ Rand Paul: ‘Tiny Percentage of the Senate Republican Conference’

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell dinged fellow Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul for being “an isolationist.”

Last week, Paul managed to delay passage of a $40 billion aid package to help Ukraine fend off Russia’s invasion. The Senate ultimately passed the measure on Thursday.

“My colleague Senator Paul has always been – basically – an isolationist. He’s proud of it and believes that’s where America ought to be. That is a tiny percentage of the Senate Republican conference. We only had 11 votes against the package. I predict we will have even fewer votes opposed to the admission of Finland and Sweden into NATO.”

Donald Trump Jr. @DonaldJTrumpJr

Nah. ⁦@RandPaul⁩ is 100% right. America gets it too, especially when they figure out where it’s really all going. Our tax payer money should be invested in America. Not Ukraine & not given to Big War! #AmericaFirst

Clubby McYertle is so out of touch with the country and his own ‘base’.

Definitely! Paul is great and McConnell wore out his welcome about 30 years ago.

You blame the people who *voted* for him?

Like the ones who *voted* for Brandon??

It’s a rigged system.

McYertle buys the *votes*....for any member of his lil DC club, who ever gets a legit challenger.

Mitch is right, most of the GOP Senators are Bush League Republicans who want to protect every border but ours.

22% is not a tiny percentage. That’s 11 of 50 repub senators voted against it.

22% is not a tiny percentage.

And opposition to Ukraine aid among Republican voters is much higher than 22%.

McConnell is barely a Republican and has repeatedly trash talked Trump and rolled out the red carpet for Dems like an assistant Democrat.

Wanting oversight over 40 billion doesn’t make Rand Paul an isolationist.

Aligning with the Founders who repeatedly argued against long-term entanglements with foreign powers isn’t being an isolationist.

The Founders argued in favor of alliances that were short-term, issue-specific, and in our interest, not unending warmongering with NATO owhich has went rogue in that it bowed before Odumba, as an example among other warmongering examples, and offensively attacked Liby when no NATO members were threatened and on unproven allegations that Gaddafi was going to kill 10k of his own people.

The 40 billion will be paid in the form of higher prices on everything.
The dems will point the finger and say it was a bipartisan vote.

I could see sending a couple billion for humanitarian aid. But the proxy war downpayment of $40 billion is depleting our country. We should be adding that $40 billion to our defense budget to deter China.
