The Snake Department were always Communist friends IIRC.
They were always intensely hostile to anticommunists, antiAmerican, pro-thirdworldists and pro socialist. They get it from the intellectual fashions of where they come from, America’s elite universities.
The “nazi” thing is bizarre.
The distinction between commie and Nazi is a very fine line, often difficult to discern (especially from within the regimes).

Anyone wishing to exert influence over America — or destroy her from within — is naturally going to try getting an inside channel at the Snake Dept, or military or security or intelligence agencies.
Yes, an enemy agent might infiltrate the forest service. But chances are he’ll grab a chance at getting into the CIA or Snake Dept if opportunity presents.
