After insisting their forces would "fight to the death," Ukraine has ceded control of the major city to Russia.

I care very deeply for this not escalating into a nuclear confrontation. You are in America, so you fancy that news is just televised entertainment. I sympathize. But Poland is now on Putin’s hit list for “de-Nazification”. And if he attacks a NATO country such as Poland, not only will there be a nuclear exchange, but TV and the Internet will be on “tilt”. Since I like the Internet, I don’t want a nuclear exchange, and therefore, I am rooting for Ukraine to send Putin home crying to Mother Russia with a black eye and a bloody nose.
Also, there is the personal angle. There have been three times that Jews have ever had any say in affairs of the Ukrainian steppes, the first being the Khazar Empire a thousand years ago, the second the Council of Four Lands about 400 years ago, and the third was the presidency of VZ. As a Jew, I’m rather happy, quite aside from the geopolitics. He’s David-ing the Russian Goliath, and I’m named after the boy-giant-slayer king:-)
NAZIS, of course, do not have any such scruples. A totally reasonable assumption is that any sort of evidence of wanton killing and destruction you may be seeing in news from Ukraine, is the work of the bandera-Nazis and not the work of the Russian military.
This is more like a rescue mission, since Russians still generally view typical Ukrainians as fellow Slavic Orthodox Christians.
"A rescue mission ?" you might ask...
As in,
And put an end to the gargantuan deep-state child trafficking and money laundering ops and other forms of extreme transnational gangsterism.
The thing that is really new and different about this operation is that, historically at least, nine ways out of ten when Christians have had to face off against barbarian hordes, the Christians have gotten wiped.
In fact, not only won but won in spectacular fashion. Acting with no more than about 15% of its available forces, Russia has produced a candidate for greatest demonstration of maneuver warfare since Genghis Khan, and all of that with a force no larger than a third or so of the bandera-Nazi defenders while standard doctrine says they should need three times the size of the defending force...
There is no definition of patriotism that includes stooging or taking the side of Nazis against Christians. The potential for conservatives who have taken the side of the deep state and the banderaNazis in this business to end up looking and feeling stupid, is vast and I don't think they're going to have to wait very long for that.
I love the sound of howling Neo-Cons.
Some real dumb neocons here. Chicken hawk keyboard warriors at that. Their minds are on American Empire, hundreds of bases worldwide, they don’t care about open borders, 30 trillion in debt, etc.
Russia hasn’t been communist in over 25 years as it is capitalistic.
Ukraine is basically a captive welfare state and has been for some time now, and it is due partly to a couple in 2014 against a legally-elected president in Ukraine.
More like whining neocons at this point...
Got your ass kicked every time you went there, didn’t ya?
I miss those days.
The Russian government is a bunch of Soviets with better shoes. And Russia is pretty much a third world country economically.
It’s Tuesday…time to hear of another Russian General taking two in the hat.
If you believe the Russian propaganda that civilians were being used as human shields in Mariupol your thought process is basically non-existent. But more likely you are just spewing the talking points from Russia's propaganda office.
Vladimir Putin has made the protection of Christianity and Christians in the world a major plank in Russian foreign policy.
THAT is why I like the guy. Prior to that time I'd been waiting a long time to hear any politician with the power to do anything about it say the first word about Protecting Christians, and there had not been any takers.
And the real fools, or Russian propaganda officers posting here actually think that Russia has some grand plan to "eliminate" the few hundred "Nazis" in Ukraine which involves getting tens of thousands of their soldiers killed, and ships, helicopters, tanks, and thousands of their military vehicles destroyed while losing territory steadily since the high point of their invasion.
The Russian "plan" to "save Mariupol" destroyed it, and killed thousands of the Russian speaking civilians they said they were there to help.
And in the process Russia has driven two more of its neighbors into NATO, and destroyed its economy.
Russia has weakened their military so much that China could seize eastern Russia if they wanted it.
Now that's winning!
It must be late in your cubicle in Moscow. The Donbass is a part of Ukraine, and there was no fighting there until 2014 when the Russian led, armed, and funded separatists started a war. The people waging war have been the Russians through their proxy militias in the DNR and LPR.
Chernobyl was on a major route from the Russian railhead in Byelorussia. It was indeed necessary to take it and hold it against Ukrainian attempts to cut the roads. Otherwise it was very vulnerable, surrounded by wildland and forest, ideal terrain for guerilla activity.
It wasnt a strategic objective as such, but its location was important.
8^)

Thank you for posting some truth to the Russian trolls and clueless Russian loving fools posting here today.
That is not accurate. They have, however, been taking out Russian naval vessels with leeks.
Funny, my wife wanted to watch "Top Gun" as it was being shown on television, we don't have cable so I don't watch television at all, but I have a 3D version of "Top Gun" and convinced her to watch that instead so I don't have to sit through the commercials.
It is a silly movie, but...there are a lot of Navy pilots who still love it for a variety of reasons.
There is a former F-14 pilot named Ward Carroll who has a channel on YouTube, and he is pretty good, but he has a video titled:
LINK: 21 Cringeworthy Errors in the Movie TOP GUN
It is hilarious to watch, but...he does have a notice saying something like it may destroy your ability to enjoy the movie, so be warned!"
Heh, in one, he talks about the scene were a pilot goes to pieces and can't fly his plane back to a landing, and is fixated on a picture of his wife and baby which is taped over...probably one of the most important dials...the Airspeed Indicator!!!!
In another one, he points out a scene with a bunch of pilots walking on the flight line, and one of them is peeling an orange! FOD! (that one really did make me laugh, it would be like a doctor going into an operating room eating a bag of Doritos!
Anyway, knowing how dangerous cucumbers might be for **some** Ukrainian grandmothers, we can guess how effective they might be if lobbed into the intake of a passing Russian jet! (for decades after, instead of legends of female Soviet snipers holding off the Huns, there would be cucumber wielding Ukrainian grandmothers decimating the Russian air force! (When "The Ghost of Kiev" isn't shooting all the rest down in a video game...)
A tough day for the FR/Daily Mail crowd of drag-queen story hour Ukie fantasists. And then some. But, but...will the Azov butt boys be able to domicile in the same cells...for the rest of their rotten lives? Those who aren’t executed, that is.
There is no reason to parrot Russian propaganda, and make up ugly lies in order to argue the three points you suggest are the reason some posters are putting up Russian propaganda.
There are plenty of legitimate ways to argue for staying out of foreign conflicts, like pointing out the pluses and minuses of the US engaging in those conflicts. But calling an entire nation of people Nazis, and claiming they are committing war crimes, like using "human shields", denying the war crimes that were committed by Russian soldiers, and the kind of propaganda lies we see every day here is not a legitimate way to argue for a different US political direction.
