Its the first time I’ve seen McConnell passionate about anything. He doesn’t speak up about inflation, the lack of baby formula, the idiotic energy policy, our lack of border enforcement, the fact that 60 percent of American families live paycheck to paycheck but he is hysterical about sending tens of billions to Ukraine, half a world away.

You are right that “unnamed super powers” can be totally destructive. In this case, it is the Ruskie superpower who happens to be in control, and if necessary and in some instances, they have resorted to the tactics you mention.
As for the Russian oligarchs they have every right to be upset when the west has stolen their cash reserves held in the west along with their personal property. Yes. Most people do get upset when you steal their things.
The lesson the west has miserably failed at is, how to win friends and influence people. So far the west has caused limited destruction to the Russian economy while at the same time devastating the economies in the west. And they’ve been phenomenally successful at galvanizing the Russian people against the west.
