A couple in the north Indian state of Uttarakhand are suing their only son and his wife for not giving them a grandchild after six years of marriage.
Sanjeev and Sadhana Prasad, 61 and 57, say they used up their savings raising their son, paying for his pilot's training as well as a lavish wedding.
They are demanding compensation worth nearly $650,000 (Β£525,000) if no grandchild is born within a year.
Their son and his wife do not appear to have commented.
The highly unusual lawsuit was filed on grounds of "mental harassment".

If they want a kid so badly, let them make one. They are still married. Too bad if they are too old.

((The above is not a statement of fact. It is either opinion, or satire. Or both.))

Sex in marriage has two purposes, namely, procreative and unitive. According to the parents, their son and daughter-in-lawβs attitude is that even planning for a baby isn't on the horizon, so it's not as if the kids have been trying without success. They are a microcosm of much of the West, i.e., they want the fun of the unitive without the responsibility of the procreative, unless the two are too busy pursuing their respective careers to make that kind of time with each other in the first place.
Poor mom and dad. I hope they go after these two and their child free lifestyle. Their son is such an ingrate. Hey but Europe and some other places are dying from non-replacement, so what the hell.

Pretty good epitaph for the death by attrition of Western Civilization.

And who outside your marriage orders you around about what you must and must not do, and makes all your major personal decisions for you and your husband?
Have they taken you both to court yet for not doing something they demanded you do? How was the proceedings?
How did that work out for all of you? Big happy reunion after it was all over? Fantastic.
