My summation:

USA borrows money from China so $40 billion in military hardware can kill the Russian military. While there is some damage to Russia US economy can’t take this kind of hit.

China gets Russian oil cheap and can buy more military hardware.

Russia learned from Reagan in the 1980s that arms manufacturing can bankrupt a country namely the USA.

When USA bankrupt and inflation soaring China attacks and takes over Taiwan.

Russia moves on Poland.

‘Stalin’s goal appears to have been to buy some time by creating strategic depth before Germans could bust into the pre pact borders of the Soviet Union. “

Stalin’s goal was to let both sides destroy each other. Then walk in and Bolshevize all of Europe.

“It will look like this:”

Certainly would improve the Warsaw skyline.

Poland is a red line and they cross it at their peril.

Biden is a mess, and that is dangerous for our troops, he is not a legitimate President.

"Nazis in Poland? Really? That would be like a Korean longing for the days of Imperial Japan."

Spot on, and if the Russians think that Ukraine is a hand full just wait until the Poles start entertaining them.

Stalin’s goal appears to have been to buy some time by creating strategic depth before Germans could bust into the pre pact borders of the Soviet Union.

Stalin's goal was for Communism to take over the world, under his leadership. Invading the Baltic countries was purely about conquest. Stalin also had a personal beef with the Poles. The Polish defeat of the Red Army in the 1920 Battle of Warsaw was a humiliation for Stalin, and damaged his standing vis-à-vis Lenin and Trotsky. It also confined Communism within the boundaries of former Russian Empire at a moment when it looked as if much, or all, of the former German and Austrian Empires was within the Bolshevik's grasp.

I have believed all along that if Ukraine fell, Putin would continue the attacks.

What you don’t seem to understand, whether it’s willful or not, is that the United States is not the leader of the world they have no business being in the Ukraine. But, the Bidens were in there and had such influence that Joe Biden got the prosecutor that was looking into the corruption of his son, he got him fired. What’s going on now is Russia’s looking for evidence of that corruption and we’re not talking about things posted in Pravda or the Russia times, they went to the UN to present a case that the US has been engaging in biological warfare

I’m glad you’re addressing me without insults.

This is the way Free Republic was and should be.

In fact, I do not support the United States being the world’s policeman. I support Trump, agree that Biden is corrupt as Hell, used Ukraine like his own private bank, and Hunter had no business being on any board there, and it was 100% graft to put him there.

You are confusing the two extreme sides on this issue. I do not agree with the total “everything Ukraine good, Putin is the Devil” people here. Do not confuse me with one of them.
I am not.

However, I do not support “everything Russia does is great, Putin is a Christian hero” type either.

I will say that I believe Russia attacked Ukraine for the same reason that Germany attacked Poland in 1939, the Russians attacked Finland in 1939, the Japanese attacked China in 1937 or the USA attacking Iraq in 2003. It’s all about geopolitical empire building. I just disagree with your take that Russia has an overall noble cause to go to arms.

My point was if you are a Ukrainian, you don’t deserve to have the Russians coming into your country and killing people and destroying stuff.

It is the SAME regard I would have if, just because Biden is president and a criminal, another country invades us to “free us” of his rule. He won 2020 by massive cheating. We tried to expose it and turn it back. We—so far—have lost that fight, but we’re not done, and we get to do something about it in November and 2024. We don’t need another country doing it for us. If we can’t fix it ourselves then the only one to blame is us.

Even Putin said, on February 23rd, that Ukraine has no right to exist and is part of Russia.

That is simply not true, and what they did was a violation of the UN charter.

Now, in 2002, we went before the UN to prove our case that Iraq had WMDs, and they finally gave us the green light to invade. THAT was wrong. We didn’t find those WMDs and the whole thing was flawed. Still, when it came to Ukraine, Russia should have put their cards on the table to the UN long before invading the Ukraine. Maybe they would have fooled the UN or not, I don’t know. Still, they should have tried. But I do know that both military actions are/were wrong. As it turned out, Saddam was ruthlessly keeping the lid on worse things such as ISIS. He should have been kept out of other countries, but not invaded.

40 Billion is @5% of the US defense budget, or sub 1% of Federal spending.

“Where’s the free republic queer for Putin crew?”

I am still relatively new at FR, but I find it both amusing and a bit disturbing how things like COVID and Russia-Ukraine create such discord and outright hostility between fellow FReepers, which I have been guilty of, too.

While I am endeavoring to reign in my frustrations and refrain from posting personal attacks on other FReepers, I certainly understand when others continue to do so without restraint.

However, isn’t one of FR’s primary purposes to be a forum for robust debate and critical thinking, and if so why can’t this be done without labeling and insulting/attacking those we disagree with? This isn’t HuffPo or DU for crying out loud.

As far as Putin is concerned, I doubt anybody here aside from a few trolls give two sh!ts about Putin. From what I have seen, “the queer for Putin queers” are questioning the official narrative and other propaganda coming from the very same people, organizations and media we are battling here at home - the Biden Admin, DNC, MSM, RINOs, Big Tech, Big Business and the “Deep State”.

My question to you is why do any FReepers believe anything, and without question, the aforementioned people / groups report on the Russia-Ukraine War? And why do they attack those that do question it? The people feeding us this news are the same exact people that created, promoted and endorsed the Trump-Russia hoax, the COVID scamdemic, opened our boarders to illegal alien invasion, undermined Trump’s (and our) agenda at every turn and then allowed the election to be stolen. And please note, they stole the election from us, not Trump, and yet with all of this staring us in the face, FReepers still accept, believe and buy into the crap being fed to us by our political enemies while attacking anybody that questions it. That’s neither critical thinking or robust debate.

Oh well. Meh...go figure.
