What is your beef? If they were there and he got tired they could pull him out. Where is the harm?
my beef is, in my house anyhow, 6 year olds don’t set the agenda.
I don’t care if the kid runs 2 marathons back to back- it was the wording of the statement from the parent.
“ He adamantly wanted to run a marathon “ he’s not in charge! JMHO.
Let me see. I must be a horrible father because 3 years ago I let my, then 6 year old son, start Taekwondo. He had asthma and had been hospitalized three times for pneumonia. He would get a cough frequently that could advance to pneumonia so it had to be watched closely.
During Taekwondo practice I watched him closely. When he appeared to be having difficulty breathing I would make him sit down, drink water and dry off the sweat, even though it was not “water break” time.
Twice in the past 3 years he had mild pneumonia, (because I caught it early). He is now getting ready to promote to Red Belt and is going to compete in a parring tournament later this month. He is one of the top students in his gym and has had very positive reviews by the Philippine Taekwondo Association officials.
We, as parents, with consultation with our child’s pediatrician, know what our child can and cannot handle. Leave us alone!!!
