West Virginia has an excellent election system (at least in my county in North Central WV) and even if the race is close, we’ll know the results tonight.

A voting device is a simple tablet where you touch the names on the screen to pick your choices. There are no ‘calibration errors’; it has you review your choices twice to make sure they are correct before printing your finalized ballot.

Once it prints your ballot, the names on the paper ballot readable aloongside the machine record of the vote. You walk with the election official and deposit your one ballot into the tabulation machine.

Results are available at each precinct a few minutes after the polls close.

If a state with the economic disadvantages of West Virginia can implement a voting system that is convenient, fast and mistake free, I don’t see why bigger, richer states cannot - unless actually they don’t want to have a simple, fast reliable voting system.

A lot of stuff like this is posting on my NextDoor app.

WOW! My husband went to The Woods Resort (Voting Precinct 66) this morning with his NEW voter registration card. He was told to go to Precinct 48 (that’s what is says on the card). He went across town in Martinsburg to Valley View Elementary and there isn’t even a precinct there.

I called SOS office because two weeks ago EVERYTHING was fine on their site. Today, it says my husband is not registered to vote. And there is no precinct listed for mine. Lisa at SOS office told me they removed precinct numbers for some voters in Berkeley County because of errors made.

The interactive map is the only tool right now where (I think) you can get your correct precinct, but the poll workers at our precinct 66 could not find my husband’s name in their books. We will go back and not leave until they give us a ballot. It’s a mess, but please don’t give up if you encounter a problem. Insist that the poll worker call the SOS office.

“Problems”, “irregularities” and “provisional ballots” are being mentioned by quite a few.
