The theory floating around yesterday is that it might have been a faulty air conditioner. When they arrived they were told there was an issue with it that was being worked on. Maybe a coolant leak or something with the Freon that released a toxic gas into the room

Freon is not very toxic, I believe.

When I hear “A/C units” on big buildings, I think “Legionaire’s Disease”! Totally different issue.
