Little to do with school and more to do with home.
There is a charter school here in Nashua, NH called the Academy of Science and Design. Any student resident in the state of NH can go there for free. They just have to pass a test to get in. There is busing if you live in Nashua. If you live outside of Nashua you need to get a ride.
I pass the entrance to this school on the way to work everyday. My passing coincides with parents dropping off their children. The percentage of Asian ethnicity going to this school is large. Yet the Asian population of NH is about 3%.
There are no expensive organized sports. No baseball fields. No lighted football field with synthetic turf. No hockey team. I believe there is a cross country team and a few other low cost organized sports. I also believe children are required to take a language other than English.
It has been the highest rated public school in the state of NH for the last few years. I suspect it is rated higher academically than several of the private schools in the state. With the exception of Phillips Exeter Academy. However, you don’t have to wear a blue blazer to class.
This has more to do with funneling money to the supporters of liberal government than it has to do with any concern for the children.

And most of that money goes to the top-heavy administration in school districts. Just like any government entity, they start out with good intentions but then screw everything up. What’s that old parable about where the road to good intentions ends?????
