Yes, but CHICAGO in the top 10? *THAT* Chicago with daily killings? Now that boggles the mind.

I’m in Phoenix. Prices are way up. Local home-buyers have to compete with Californians with cash in hand. Prices have leveled off mostly, but with interest rates up 40% compared to a year ago, a 30 year mortgage is not a great deal. I am glad we bought last year.

most recently identifying the country's top states for movers as Tennessee, Texas and Florida.

All three of those states have no state income tax. (The list: Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and Wyoming )

New Hampshire presently taxes investment income, which is why it was omitted from my cut and paste. You are correct though, NH does NOT tax wages or salaries.

They HAVE to be talking about metro Chicago, the collar suburbs.
Because there’s no way in Hell people are moving to one of the 77 neighborhoods in the actual city.

RE: One city in Florida and three in Texas. I hope they stay red

All big cities are blue. People moving to Florida and Texas are looking for a different kind of vibe. Liberals move to Colorado or New Mexico. Alberta's Child once pointed to a CNN poll indicating that non-native Texans voted GOP at a higher rate than native Texans:

How long have you lived in Texas?

 O'RourkeCruzNo Answer
Born in Texas58%
51%48%1%
Moved to Texas42%
42%57%1%

I remember years ago when I first moved to Texas when I drove frequently from DFW to San Antonio. You could drive miles through mostly farmland and empty areas.

Now it’s pretty much all one giant Googleplex from DFW to San Antonio, with very few open spaces along I-35.

This method would only count arrivals, not exits... Chicago is in the top ten because it is large... but I’m pretty confident that the net change is megative, not top ten positive.
