I’ve got an acre with a well, trout stream and backup generator.
I have a stand up full freezer that I’ve been adding to every time I go to the store.
My next investment will probably be pasta, rice, beans and various sauces that can be stored at room temperature.
And a solid investment in the ammo to protect it all.

If you want pasta sauce, look into tomato paste. It’s very concentrated so it will save a LOT of storage space.
Don’t forget salt and medical supplies.

“backup generator”
How do you power it? Solar or fuel?

Three weeks ago I moved to a rural small town in NW TN. Three acres, 100-year-old, 5600 sq. ft. farmer's "mansion" surrounded by pecan trees. I'm hiring several of the locals to help me get this place into shape, and making some friends along the way.
I thought I had some excellent preps, but the locals tell me I'm still an amateur.

I've been picking up a couple of extra canned goods every trip to the store for the past couple years.
Hunts had a 24oz can of pasta sauce in 4 or 5 different varieties that they'd been selling for forever for 98 cents at Walmart.
I saw the other day that the price has increased to $1.18-still not bad.
The sauce is edible and more importantly, it comes in a can. I've broken more than my share of jars and I'm done with that.
Overall, I don't think that we'll go hungry in the U.S., but we are sure as hell going to pay top dollar for marginal products for awhile.

Ammo is a good investment now. Prices are way down compared to 1-2 years ago.
Like precious metals, it will never be worth zero (unless you store it improperly).
