Spurious though Moscow’s claims for a ‘responsibility to protect’ may be, its intervention in Ukraine has ultimately been based in equal measure on Russia’s purported historical, ethnic, and cultural claims to Crimea and (less explicitly) to large stretches of south-eastern Ukraine frequently referred to as ‘Novorossiya’.
If you accept Putin's claim to Novorossiya, then we should give the US back to the people who occupied North America before 1300. If you accept Putin's right to combat "Nazis" in Ukraine, then why not welcome any Canadian or Mexican invasion to rid the US of "Nazis?"
Putin invaded a sovereign nation. True or False?
True, of course.
We weren’t an independent nation until the 1780s. By this logic the Brits could invade the US and drag us back into the British Empire.
Oh wait, they tried that in 1812 and we kicked their asses again.
L
Oh good... one-sided blog-trash posing as objective analysis.
True. This will be a lively thread.
I don’t think this had anything to do with Crimea.....it had everything to do with Nato Expnsion and filling Ukraine with military and military equipmnt, conducting military drills etc. in Ukraine with Ukrainians and Nato troops long before Putin went into Ukraine.
Did Russia invade a sovereign nation in March of 2022?
The Ukraine has been a sovereign nation since all the way back in 1991, with the breakup of the USSR.
Why was it called “The Ukraine?” Because it was for centuries just a region of Russia, and then the USSR. It’s why we call “The Midwest” The Midwest, not the sovereign nation of Midwest. The Midwest is a region of America, the way that The Ukraine was a region of Russia until 1991.
Tell me, who was the king or president of Ukraine in 1850? 1750? 1650? Please inform us.
America invaded a sovereign nation. True or False?
Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, Iraq ....
The list goes on and on. Hell we fire missals at countries all over the world for no other reason then to create a diversion.
Do you think it has anything to do with Putin’s ideas regarding Novorussiya?
The other question would be was Nato preparing for war with Russia by conducting Nato exercises and filling Ukraine consistantly with military armament .....was Nato planning to go to war with Ukraine?
Monstrous lol!!
Whataboutism. Did Russia invade a sovereign nation in March of 2022?
“Did Russia invade a sovereign nation in March of 2022?”
It’s a bit more complicated. Parts of Ukraine were solidly Russian, (Crimea, the Donbass), parts were not.
Did America invade a sovereign nation in 1898, when we “annexed” Hawaii at USMC gunpoint? The Hawaiians had settled and ruled Hawaii for a thousand years before America stole it literally by armed force.
So, do you support the immediate return of Hawaii to the Hawaiians?
If you mean Donbass etc. yes in part....why wouldn’t it? But It’s all the other drills and supplying planeloads of military equipment and Nato troops drills which would indicate a threat to Russia - particularly after Nato members refused to address Putins concerns which he raised consistently....
Rather like when Russia was putting heavy armament in Cuba that we wouldn’t stand for and didn’t.
Who was president of the US in 1850, 1750, 1650? Why does it matter now that the US is a sovereign nation, just as Ukraine is a sovereign nation? Does England maintain rights to coerce obedience because of a foothold in Jamestown in 1607?
Did Putin invade a sovereign nation in March of 2022?
I await your declaration of total support for giving Hawaii back to the Hawaiians, who had discovered and ruled it for a thousand years before we showed up and “annexed” it at gunpoint due to “Muh Manifest Destiny.”
So, let us know when you are going to join the Free Hawaii League.
Otherwise, your crocodile tears about the ever-shifting borders of “THE” Ukraine (a region of Russia, never a country before 1991) are just a joke.
“The Ukraine has been a sovereign nation since all the way back in 1991, with the breakup of the USSR.”
Same for the russian federation.
“Tell me, who was the king or president of Ukraine in 1850? 1750? 1650? Please inform us.”
Surely not the London kings and queens, that would be another country.

It is really sad, but there is no question conservatives today really do not have direct and detailed enough knowledge, or accurate non-revisionist historical knowledge critical to Eastern European events (or globally), which “set the table” for what we see happening now in the mid 1980’s and into the 1990’s.
As well, the 1980’s and early 1990’s ultimately triggered what was really another high level cold war spat, and semi-kinetic proxy war between the US and Moscow in the former Yugoslavia going into the 2000’s.
It was a convenient and near universal and legendary conservative default belief, but the “blue dress” really was not behind our engagement in Yugoslavia. But that is for another time. (Albeit it should never ha e happened)
The fact that Ukraine was one of the single biggest causes (on multiple fronts, including the rise of Lech Walesa in Poland), in forcing the USSR/CCCP to transition into a Russian Federation with its subordinate CIS, (the plan of which was born no later than 1978-1979), began unfolding in the early 1980’s), helping to cause the USSR’s loss of totalitarian control over the Warsaw Pact, and ultimately resulted in nearly a 120 quiet US friendly ranking Ukrainian KGB and UA-CCP officials from Kiev (and their families being hunted down by RU KGB/FSB and GRU, and murdered.
Most were murdered in UA between 1987 to 1997. A few were murdered abroad (not in UA).
In a nutshell, those UA officials who opposed forced membership in the Kremlin controlled/subordinated CIS were eliminated - before CIS was created, during its formal formation in 1991, and within four to five years after UA had already been forced into the subordinate CIS.
While this was happening, Clinton was fully embracing and supporting all things Kremlin policy, like many “conservatives” across America today, no matter what the Kremlin does.
Early UA efforts to break free from Moscow -
There were actually two significant quiet attempts in UA, really spanning between 1987-1993, and one not so quiet, to try and break from subordination to the Kremlin and.to become independent. These too resulted in more bloodshed and polotocal assassinations, subsequent, and somewhat careful installation of at least quietly Kremlin aligned UA political figures.
Notably, until US President Trump, these have always included pro-Kremlin UA governance over UA resources and strategic materials.
As happened across the Warsaw Pact (and worse in UA) post WWII, from 1991 to 2012, UA was dominated by proactive FSB thuggery, coercion, threat of death, and “Destabilization by Corrupt Methods (DCM).
One of the single greatest problems UA faced through the 1990’s was the direct result of leftist, Pro Kremlin, US administration and politicians (Clinton.and predominantly the DNC).
UA knew the West would give almost anything to Moscow, including near full cooperation on RU domestic and foreign policy within its sphere, and beyond.
At the same time UA desperately needed and sought many relationships with “Western” political leaders, and large corporations, often in violation of its CIS subordination to Moscow.
It is well documented (from Russian sources and Russian documentary), just as they have been all.along across Latin America, the GRU and FSB have long been using well trained terror and assassination operatives (including GRU/FSB trained and funded RU neo-Nazi’s since at least 2007 in UA), as well as global psychological operations against UA. This has only increased in intensity from 1991 to the present.
I ha e seen many videos like this one, where almost none of the actual history, and most of the literal context of past and recent history are near completely missing, where the embrace of the narrative depends on the knowledge of western historical illiteracy, or of the targeted western viewership.
As it is a known variable that human pride does not allow for one to accept they are wrong, when through ignorance the proud embrace propaganda, they can only become arrogant robotic disciples and exponential purveyors of the author’s strategic goal.
Truly sad...
Did NATO start arming Ukraine before or after Russia annexed sovereign Ukrainian territory?
