“Why are US troops in Romania?”
Romania is part of NATO and is also a treaty ally of the USA.
Romania has a small military and they still sent a force to Afghanistan to back up the USA after 9/11. They lost twenty-seven soldiers over the nineteen years they stood by us and in the whole of that time they never flinched.
In a world where the US is short on friends the Romanians are our friends and they’ve proven this with the blood of their people.
In his farewell address, Washington told us to avoid foreign entanglements. So I think he’d be amazed to find that we have troops here, there, and everywhere in the world.
I’m not saying that we shouldn’t be doing these deployments. I’m just suggesting that Washington would have been amazed by it.
