Ukraine intelligence says Russia's war may end in September

Russia may be looking to conclude its war in Ukraine within four months’ time, according to Kyiv's Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense, which said Tuesday it believes September is Moscow’s intended deadline.

"There is information among the occupier's military that … the so-called ‘special military operation’ is set for September 2022," the ministry said.

Russia’s deadly war has persisted for nearly 70 days with Moscow focusing all its efforts in eastern and southern Ukraine after its forces failed to take Kyiv.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has attempted to justify his illegal invasion by claiming Russian forces are working to "denazify" and liberate regions he has claimed have been subject to Ukrainian oppression.

NATO allies and Ukrainian officials have flatly rejected this attempt to guise his brutal campaign as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is Jewish and was democratically elected.

Defense officials have been sounding the alarm that Putin’s real aim is to bridge Russian-occupied Crimea – which Moscow illegally annexed in 2014 – with regions in eastern Ukraine that share a border with Russia.

But Putin’s ambitions have extended beyond the eastern Donbas regions and a Russian general announced last month that Moscow will seek to take Ukraine’s southern regions that sit along the Black Sea – a move that would give Russia seaport dominance.

Ukraine’s defense ministry said Tuesday that Mariupol continues to be pummeled by Russian forces and claimed it is carrying out a "big cleaning" to rid the city of the masses of causalities.

Only if it has completed the land bridge between Transnistria and Crimea by then.

There is zero chance of Russia giving up the area it now controls. The cities in that area are flying the Russian flag and have or are converting their currency to rubles.

It’s a stalemate. Call a ceasefire and negotiate. Stop the carnage.

It is (or used to be) a custom here on FR that when you named another poster in a post, you pinged them in that post.

Not trying to be the posting police. (Well, maybe a little.)

>> Russian President Vladimir Putin has attempted to justify his illegal invasion

That’s Caitlin’s opinion.

What really matters is, will the Big Guy still get his 10% on the undelivered part of the aid package if the war ends prematurely.

"Ukraine intelligence says Russia's war may end in September"

Is that when Ukraine figures the U.S. will run out of money to send there?

“There is zero chance of Russia giving up the area it now controls.”

There are historical precedents - like Russia retreating from territory it controlled last month around Kyiv, Chernhiv and Sumy.

Or last weekend, around Kharkiv. That time it was not a choice to retreat - they were pushed out by the Ukrainian Military.

The Pentagon confirmed that the new Artillery has begun firing. Much more is on the way. It just won’t be safe for and Russian Forces to remain stationary any more.

That might be about the time of economic collapse for Russia.

The Russians own the air and the sea. They have been running as many as 300 sorties a day during this war.

You're believe propaganda coming from the Biden regime. That's pretty foolish because it has proven it will lie about just about anything.

The Russians were surrounding Kiev, BTW, to keep the troops there in place so they can focus on surrounding the bulk of the Ukrainian army in Donbass, which they have done, and so they could focus on clearing out Mariupol of the neo-Nazi Azov battalion, which they have done.

There are obviously THREE DIFFERENT possibilities:

1. The Russians are making significant gains... The Ukrainians have no chance... Zelenskyy might as well surrender right now...

2. It's a stalemate... Russian forces are stalled... The Ukrainians have no hope of winning... Zelenskyy might as well surrender right now...

3. The Ukrainians are winning... The Russians are losing... Putin is being backed into a corner and might employ NUKES... It is thus pointless for the Ukrainians to go on... Continued fighting is resulting only in the loss of still more human life... Zelenskyy might as well surrender right now...

Funny how that works, isn't it?

Regards,

That was a silly take from day 1.
The Russians never managed to surround Kyiv.
One does not commit 40-50% of committed troops to a “diversion”.
One does not commit ones best troops (the bulk of the VDV) likewise.
One does not commit the bulk of ones logistics capability (from hastily developed railheads in a foreign country yet) to run massive convoys to supply a diversion.

As for owning the air and sea- you do not see the Russians “owning” the sea at all. The Black Sea fleet has suffered heavy losses and thus can’t use most ports on the Black sea or the Sea of Azov to supply its southern front. And it seems that Russian aircraft can’t risk raiding far beyond the frontlines. They are limited to cruise missile attacks from the other side of the borders, and cant do much greater payload, less logistically demanding, and more damaging “iron bomb” attacks into the core of Ukraine, at risk of heavy aircraft losses.

That is not an issue in Europe. The rest of the world exists, its not all about US politics.

I’m afraid that (Sept.) might be too optimistic for Russia’s economy to collapse. Not that it might not have “problems”, but for a serious collapse Russia’s big energy customers in Europe will have to have switched to other sources. It’s just not possible by this Sept., with winter following soon. This is even more problematic due to Biden NOT setting the US on a wartime footing to ramp up gas and oil production as fast as possible.

Note that aside from keeping Germans and such from freezing, the real direction is not to prevent Russia from exporting. It is to drive the prices so low that in conjunction with the attempt to keep up with increased Western defense expenditures, Russia will eventually crumble (again), while the US economy booms, carrying the West with it. Realistically, such a program could take 10 years.

You're repeating fiction. It's unbelievable that you believe this crap

One side isn't able to run up to 300 sorties a day and take out literally any target it wants, including NATO training facilities with hypersonic weapons, without owning the air. Ukraine is running out of fuel because the Russians have destroyed most of the fuel supply stations.

And, for some reason, you think its a sign of success if Ukraine, on rare occasions manages to shoot down a plane or sink a ship. The Russians are hitting dozens of targets for every one the Ukrainians hit.

What you and this irresponsible regime are doing is giving the Ukrainians false hope in order to somehow hurt Russia. But, all that is happening is Ukrainians are being massacred and losing more and more of their country.

Ukraine couldn't win even if NATO got involved, which the VAST majority oppose. It would be Vietnam 2.

I would be happy to see Europe fight it’s own wars and leave us out of it. But I’m dreaming.
