Authorities say a barrel carrying human remains has been discovered in Lake Mead.
Boaters spotted the barrel Sunday afternoon and the National Park Service was alerted.
The agency said in a statement rangers searched an area near Hemenway Harbor and found the barrel with skeletal remains. They are working with Las Vegas police.

People in that business aren't known for their longevity. Principals are likely dead, or in prison doing life.
Anyone in witness protection who was involved and still alive has to be a bit concerned if they didn't confess as part of entering the program.
Hmmmm. We have a Lake Meade right here in south central Pennsyltucky; not too far from Gettysburg. And we have several unsolved disappearances, as well. So my mind did NOT jump to the one out west.

Anytime a big hole is dug and filled back in, there is usually a substantial mound left unless heavy equipment is brought in to smooth it out. This is likely how the Spilotro brothers grave site was found in an Indiana corn field.
