Did you just come from Venezuela? “Nationalizing” is what they did there. Worked well for them didn’t it

I know little about the details and the laws here. But I have a sinking feeling that Florida cannot undo the Reedy Creek Improvement District without Florida paying the 2 billion dollar debt. That DeSantis and the Florida legislature cannot force Disney to pay 2 billion by passing ex-post facto laws.

If, when Florida passes this law, Disney will contest. Reedy District will be in the courts for years. First the Florida courts, where Disney loses. Then into the Federal courts. Perhaps into the Supreme Court.

“...the left has had five years to smear him and nothing has happened...”

Probably because he stayed home with his politics and didn’t toss his keyster into the big ring yet. Now he’s playing with the big boys. And the possible opting of going into the POTUS race will be just the trigger for the libs to go after him. And his going after Disney was the perfect scenario (and excuse) to open up on this newly projected candidate. Don’t worry, it’s just beginning. The libs don’t live on facts, they work with “feelings.” Can you just imagine punishing Mickey Mouse? They can’t either.

“Hasn’t Disney already up and moved to China? Their US parks are getting old.”

Disney has EXPANDED to Asia (and elsewhere). Disney has not up and moved; they’re still here.

“...Disney will contest...”

And it will show. Depending on how much the Disney legal team will cut the original contract apart and just how far the legal system wishes to stall the inevitable. You’re right about the ex-post facto laws that normally apply to criminal and not contractual law, as I’m afraid Florida in the 1960’s may have left the barn door open with how they worded the contract they signed with the mouse. They were desperate to get the Disney money into the tourist system much larger than their already established attractions. They bent over backwards to get it done and now it’s going to bite them on the azz.

In today’s standards, a billion dollars is worth more when it has to do with the protection of children politically. Florida could pay it off and never miss it. But politically, it would be damaging for them to back off the LGBT manure thing they have started and failed at by doing it wrong again. They’re right for their stance, but you can’t take the mouse head on and not walk away wounded or killed. And in this case they brought a contract to a knife fight.

Yeah, you’re right. He should just pack it now, I guess.

[It may be worth to write off the loss, just to reset to zero and move forward.]

Might that completely destroy their credit?

“He should just pack it now, I guess.”

Not totally going to happen. He is a tool right now. The liberals are demonizing him with just enough to make him unelectable in three years when they turn up the heat on his history. But they are going to use him to try to derail the public opinion about Trump over the next year and a half by providing a newsworthy conservative rival. You’ll notice no one else is in the news to lead the new expected majorities in the house and senate at the next election. Remember, Harris stays as the head of the senate no mater what the majority and will cast the decider of all tied votes.

The liberals and their assault dog media are going to keep DeSantis in the news as long as it takes to cost Trump the nomination so it is literally trying to kill two birds with one stone. And if it wasn’t DeSantis, it would be someone else.

For many years, the media has used such names as McCain, Cruz, Dole, Kemp, Buchanan, Romney and others to try to dirty the water around certain candidates before they hammered all of them into non-existence or election destruction. Old way liberal politics: don’t prove your candidate, destroy the opposition many times ignoring their successes and lying about the rest.

I don’t think it would destroy Florida’s credit. Florida would just have to manage it if it chose to write off some level of loss to fix Disney’s abuse of Florida’s generosity to it.
