Both sides spent money trying to influence Ukraine, the problem for Putin is that Ukrainians want to be part of Europe, because of the wealth, and not part of some Russian-Asian-Bananastan bloc. It's that American double-standard I referred to:

It's that American double-standard I referred to: The US can have a Monroe Doctrine; Russia can't. Both sides used money to try to influence. Putin invaded an independent Ukraine to subjugate it.
