Jenna Ellis, a former attorney for former president Donald Trump, is taking fire from conservatives as she continues to defend Disney's right to criticize a Florida law.
Earlier this week, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed into law a bill that revoked Disney's self-governing privileges in the state.
The bill has been widely viewed as retribution for the company's criticism of Florida's new law, dubbed "Don't Say Gay" by opponents, which bars instruction on sexual orientation and gender identity in kindergarten through third grade.
Ellis, who was hired by Trump as a legal advisor in 2019 and later part of the legal team that tried to challenge the results of the 2020 presidential election, has called DeSantis' actions "over the line" and offered her legal services to Disney.
On Twitter, Ellis has been fending off criticism from conservatives over her stance.
"You can't be woke enough to pacify leftists. Turns out you can't be MAGA enough to pacify the right," she wrote in a tweet on Saturday.
In another tweet, she wrote that the "same conservatives upset at the govt for trying to punish Hobby Lobby are now cheering that the govt is trying to retaliate against Disney for exercising its right to political speech and oppose legislation. The rule cannot be 'It's fine when I disagree with the speech.'"

Here is what people with their ear to teh ground are saying privately:
President Trump opposes DeSantis, can’t figure out how to stop him, and thinks this might be it. That’s why his lawyer @JennaEllisEsq keeps beating this drum.
No she is simply describing the law and what might happen. The law is the law. Where Florida might be safe is if they emphasize it applies to all special privileges given out by the state.
Uh - huh.
Sure thing, Jenna.
The people with their ear to the ground actually have their ears to their butts.
The State of Florida has no obligation to continue crony capitalism.
Jenna, go join the left. We are in a battle for our children.
Bet Jenna is getting a big payoff. I never trusted her or Mike Pompeo.

I am not buying it. Trump has built quite a following on not playing political games like that.
RE: she continues to defend Disney’s right to criticize a Florida law.
I agree that Disney has first amendment rights to criticize any law they want. But they do not have a constitutional right to Florida’s taxpayers privileges.
Fair trade... you support the groomers, you don’t get special tax privileges.
With all due respect l think what you posted is BS. MSM is trying to push this friction between Trump and DeSantis. I don’t buy it.
Another solid personnel choice.
What does Scaramucci think?...
What if she is carrying her own water and this is gossip that it is for Trump?
Would that damage Trump?
“I hate corporate welfare! Also, how dare Florida get rid of corporate welfare!”
Disney has every right to oppose any law it chooses. The state government has every right to remove any sinecures Disney has as a result. The people have every right to refuse to support any of Disney’s businesses. That is the essence of negative rights in America.

That is about the lamest thing I’ve ever heard.
I don’t believe that Hobby Lobby had a special exemption for its business in state laws. Disney does, and the state of Florida, representing the Florida taxpayers, has every right to revoke the status, if the entity thus protected starts acting in a morally bad manner. Disney can still scream about the bill and choose to fund whichever candidates it wants to. Nobody’s being sent to jail or fined for their advocacy, Jena. This isn’t the USA under John Adams.
Lawyers are whores.
Jenna, you are a sick pervert.
The one possibility that Jena might have to save Disneygroom’s special status is under the Constitutional prohibition on states enacting Bills of Attainder. While the bill actually supposedly revokes all special districts enacted before 1968, it’s still tailored narrowly enough so that only Disneygroom qualifies for the removal.
