A few years ago, I saw Dave Alvin with Jimmie Dale Gilmore at a small venue here in Scottsdale. I had that picture blown up and prepared for framing, then got Jimmie Dale to sign it.
He said: "Only Smokie knows for sure if he crossed the line."
