The 2020 Democratic presidential primary race was a bidding war in which the various candidates advocated spending trillions of dollars to enact sweeping progressive agendas. Some agendas were a bit more sweeping than others, but they all amounted to unprecedented increases in federal spending.
Take the issue of student loans. Bernie Sanders, the most progressive of the contenders, wanted to cancel all $1.6 trillion in student debt -- just throw out all student loans for 40-plus million Americans and somehow make Wall Street pay for it. Elizabeth Warren pledged to forgive everyone's student loans up to $50,000. And Joe Biden, the most cautious of the bunch, promised to "forgive a minimum of $10,000 per person of federal student loans."
But here's the thing: It didn't happen, and yet no American with student loan debt has had to make a payment -- any payment -- for more than two years. It is all in the name of COVID relief. And it is still going on.
It started in the Trump administration. When Congress passed the first COVID relief bill, in March 2020, it paused student loan payments until September of that year. Then-President Donald Trump extended the pause until Dec. 31, 2020. Then the Trump administration extended it again, through the end of January 2021, by which time Joe Biden would be president.
Since then, even as he touted the improving economy -- the job market is hot these days -- Biden has extended the loan repayment pause time after time. On April 6, a couple of weeks ago, he did it again. "If loan payments were to resume on schedule in May," Biden said in a statement, "analysis of recent data from the Federal Reserve suggests that millions of student loan borrowers would face significant economic hardship,

Yes. Yes, he must if he wants any influence in the mid terms.
After all, it's Communist way..
BoA crushes SOFI with Xiden’s help (for 10%?)
RE: “Can Biden Buy Votes with Student Debt Relief?”
In a word, YES.
He’ll lose just as many. Last thing Americans want to hear when they can’t make ends meet because of dementia zhao and his policies, is everyone else getting relief from debt.
The consideration gives more cred to nutcase AOC and the fake indian
What happens if you wipe $1,600,000,000,000.00 in a single day?
YES, he can buy the support of youngsters, some of them anyway. dim-0s ALWAYS buy votes.
If the War on Poverty couldn’t buy Deep State enough votes, this won’t.
Doesn’t mean Deep State won’t try it, though, just in case it has to try to explain away another stolen election.
If Deep State could buy enough, it wouldn’t have to steal elections, would it?
He will try. But by now, the would-be deadbeats expect the moratorium to continue indefinitely. They already feel entitled to it; so getting it continued won’t be a big boost, it will just keep more of them from becoming antagonistic. And they have plenty of other reasons for that already.
I had friends in the DoED and got to see the inner workings of the student loan system.
Getting a deferral stopped the payments, but not the interest. It was not uncommon to see $60,000+ in student loan debt, and the borrower hadn’t paid in 10 years while the interest piled up.
The only way out, permanent disability, was gamed greatly, and you would be surprised how many people found doctors willing to state they could never work again.
Wiping out 1.6 T of debt is like adding 1.6 T to the money supply. We’ve seen what that will do.
Every time I lookup it’s the same story.
People don’t do the right thing and the government rewards them.
Honestly, Federal voting was restricted to taxpayers originally, to prevent people from voting themselves money. Student loan forgiveness, will increase dramatically inflation, aside from being completely unfair to those union and trade workers who took no loans. The people who risked all in the military also end up paying.
People need to pay their loans. They should be given the opportunity to take federal jobs in remote areas, the military, or hard manual labor, as an option for forgiveness. If you don’t pay your loans, or pay federal income tax, you should be ineligible for federal election voting.
It took me 27 years to pay off my loans, and I don’t regret taking them out or paying them back. I do believe loan repayment should be tax deductible, because I see it as a business expense, an investment, and not just the interest but the principle.
Yes, some, but How many votes will it cost him though?
I think most “educated” (cough cough) suburban women who watch the view are gone... brainwashed... zonked as dem robots..., but I think there are a lot of people who never had college debts or moreso, a LOT of people who had them and paid them, who will resent such a move.
It is something that can be harped on by republicans, not just in the mid-terms, but particularly in 2024.
Yes... ...there are that many people who don’t care about tomorrow. And the numbers are dangerously close coupled with fraud.
Socialism/Communism has turned Snowflakes with college “diplomas” into freeloaders with no intention of ever getting a job.
These people are t-1000 terminators, you cant reason with them, bargain with them, argue with them, they have no sympathy, no pity, no emotions except hate for you and people like you. They won't stop until you are dead. There is no options with liberals, they are pure evil, made to look like normal human beings.
But they have a weakness, they can't hide their hate for Jesus and the word of God. They go hay-wire at the mention of his name in public, at schools, in restaurants, on the sidewalk, they will completely lose their human appearances.
Charles Payne went wild yesterday on fox business when given this question. He said Americans pay their debts. That is whom we are. He added he would not be happy if a doctor with 200k in debt financed his 4+ million life time earnings with it. Lastly he added what about those who paid their debts?
