Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed a $46.5 billion budget Tuesday morning that includes $1.8 billion in election-year tax relief and a $1 billion deposit into the state's rainy day fund.

“The budget I’m signing into law today brings real improvements to the lives of working families and sets us up for a stronger fiscal future,” Pritzker said in a statement. “Investments in stronger schools, modernized airports and newly paved highways, hundreds of thousands of well-paying infrastructure jobs, and a better funded pension system… these are the kind of priorities we can invest in when our state is governed responsibly.”

This is all COVID money that Pritzker is spreading around and making it look like magic money. Civilians went to jail for spending PPP loans n something else, and this guy takes credit for doing the same thing.

“a stronger fiscal future”

Translation: Illinois will now go bankrupt 1 day after Pritzker leaves office, instead of during his term.

“Civilians went to jail for spending PPP loans n something else...”

Well, you can’t jail a state. What’s the federal government going to do? Add it to the amount of money that Illinois owes them that it will never be able to payback?

insanity.

We in IL are in good shape. Our Dem state rep bragged that for very one dollar raised in revenue they can borrow 7 dollars. He talked like it was financial security.

That is where all the ‘Covid relieve’ money went, payoffs to demonrat states.

They will dole it out to buy votes, and red state voters get stuck with the bill.

Probably not borrowing that right now - I think they are funding that appropriation from the Federal infrastructure money.

Really, sometimes, I want to throw sh!t at the wall. Illinois is run by idiots, elected by gullibles. I can’t believe Reagan was born here. He must be spinning in his grave.

And yet, I still can’t put away enough money to leave, and I’ve been trying for more than a decade. I’d try GiveSendGo, but I think everyone is hurting a little too much to be donating to stuff like that.

Doesn't matter.
You and the rest of the nation are picking up the tab for Illinois and the rest of the Blue State's financial turn arounds.
The dems throw everybody $1400 in chump change and split the rest of the “infrastructure” money patching holes is these sinking states.
It was so obvious what was going on in Illinois that Prickster got on the tube and scolded everybody for saying the state was getting a bail out.
It was ALL just really good democrat financial acumen that led us out of the hole...really, it was, honest.

I would LOVE to leave Illinois, but family is too close by. I would love to move to Wisconsin.
Never thought I would say that…
