I don’t put out articles from DM. They got sucked into that Snake Island fiasco. They aren’t reliable.

A few days ago the Russian 106th AD from the Kiev salient was thrown into the Izum salient - so it must have suffered the least damage.

On that front the Russians are making progress on the western side pushing the UA back some km. The 201st MC has taken up positions along the southern front from Donetsk to Mykolaiv. UA tank reserves are headed in that direction, unless they get diverted to Izum

In an era with much better medical care, too. Even in Russia.

If Russian medical care is anything like how they treat their dead (Call 200s), then they are indeed in 1917. The Russians generally leave their dead where they fall.

“Russia is fighting a war with doctrine based on experiences 15 to 20 years old.”

Much older than that. One of the historical problems with the Russian military is its pathological aversion to delegation, which is very common with totalitarian societies. Unlike the US military, which prioritizes mission, and encourages subordinates to fulfill the mission based on what they experience up close, using flexibility and innovation; the Russian military subscribes to the top-down model, which throttles subordinate initiative, and requires senior officers to micromanage operations.

Perhaps, but the 20K figure is estimated by several sources including The American Spectator to be pretty accurate.

” Used to be, calling someone a racist was an excuse to show they have no facts. Now its propagandist.”

Same with calling someone a Nazi.

there 20,600 exact to the hundreds number is BS.

20,636 would that sound better than 20,597? People tend to round numbers up or down. No one pays any mind to Mr. I-Want-The-Exact-Number. Who spreads Fear, Uncertainty, Distortion.

I’ve seen it all over the place. It might be close.
The problem is after putting out so much propaganda, why should anything either side says be believed?...

Well, figure 2 wounded for every man killed, thats @60,000 hors d’combat. Thats six division-equivalents on the Russian TOE scales. Or, figuring that most casualties are with the maneuver units, with a max of only 5,000 infantry and AFV crew per division (the rest are artillery, support and logistics), and 80% of casualties go to these maneuver units, thats 48,000 maneuver unit casualties or the equivalent of 9.5 divisions.

Thats a very good reason why the Russian offensives bogged down. Not enough warriors left to attack with. All such operations depend on a surprisingly small number of men “at the sharp end”. Thats why so many Russian units had to be withrawn to “rebuild”, that is, to absorb replacements and reorganize/retrain the newbies.

You can discount the Ukrainian estimate. But going with other estimating methods (the Oryx vehicle count is a very good place to start) you will still get very large numbers, more than enough to cripple most of the units originally committed.

I don’t support Putin. He’s a thug. I don’t support Zelensky. He’s in bed with Soros, the WEF, etc. Ukraine was Hunter’s cash cow, and Dems and Repubs both had their kids on energy boards in Ukraine.

You’re a liberal who uses the same attack line Rachel Maddow uses smearing people.

There are almost certainly more, probably many more Ukrainians lost. Maybe as many as total Russian casualties.

The militarily significant number is not the number of dead, but of all casualties, dead, wounded, captured and ill.

The strategic question here is whether either side can afford to absorb these casualties. The Ukrainians certainly can, as they have fully mobilized and are treating this as a “total war”, can call on large manpower reserves, much larger than their casualties so far, albeit likely at a reduction in average proficiency (this is complex matter).

The Russians have not mobilized, so they have a much more limited capacity to replace casualties.

And another half-dozen other Daily Mail pieces you agree with.

The Daily Mail is very much like the New York Post.

I honestly believe nothing that is being reported in this war - the 20,000 number comes from the Ukrainian government
