Elon Musk offers to buy Twitter for $54.20 a share, so it can be ‘transformed as private company’

Elon Musk offered to buy Twitter for $54.20 a share, saying the social media company needs to be transformed privately, a little over a week after first revealing a 9.2% stake in the company.

“I invested in Twitter as I believe in its potential to be the platform for free speech around the globe, and I believe free speech is a societal imperative for a functioning democracy,” Musk wrote in a letter sent to Twitter Chairman Bret Taylor and disclosed in a securities filing.

According to Musk, the social media company needs to go private because it can “neither thrive nor serve” free speech in its current state.

“As a result, I am offering to buy 100% of Twitter for $54.20 per share in cash, a 54% premium over the day before I began investing in Twitter and a 38% premium over the day before my investment was publicly announced,” he wrote. “My offer is my best and final offer and if it is not accepted, I would need to reconsider my position as a shareholder.”

I have this vision of Musk going through Twitter HQ with a paintball gun. Fans of Entourage will understand.

Elon Musk should relocate Twitter headquarters to Mumbai, India. Seriously

He should do a hostile takeover.
Those conservatives that can afford to do so, should buy the stock as cheaply as possible, and then all agree to vote it the way Elon wants it voted...if for nothing else, just for giggles.

He is outing them. By offering an average of 10.00 MORE a share than he bought them for. If they say no, it outs them as a swamp-based government spying utility. If they were a company they would have to consider taking the offer.

Otherwise, couldn’t their board members sue them for not at least proposing a lucrative offer to the board?

The stock will bottom out if his offer is rejected.

Would be wonderful! All those POS arrogant millennial a**h***s who talk about socialism while sitting on a nest egg of stock options and shares will see reality, and it will hit them right in the face. It's easy to say "Let them eat cake" when you have every material thing you want. Much harder to say this when you are looking at losing your financial and professional stability.

If the stock starts tanking, it is very likely that those liberals holding positions will take the money before taking the loss. Ideology is secondary to their personal interests.

I heard the Marxists are going absolutely nuts because as you know, Twitter is pretty much their #1 propaganda machine and they have the Dept. of justice now looking into Musks companies which to me is even more proof the DOJ is corrupt as hell.

The DOJ/SEC have been looking into Musk’s companies from long ago. What’s new about that?
Musk has actively and aggressively engaged them.

Twitter put me in jail for saying that Muslims are beheading Christians around the world. That was considered hate speech.
