Maksym Marchenko, the head of the Odesa regional military administration, announced this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"It has been confirmed that the missile cruiser Moskva went today exactly where it was sent by our border guards on Snake Island. The Neptune missiles guarding the Black Sea caused very serious damage to the Russian ship," Marchenko said.

The cruiser Moskva is part of the 30th Surface Ship Division of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

Ukrainian forces seemingly had a very well planned strategy to destroy the Moskva cruiser. They planned to distract the ship with a TB2 drone before shooting the Neptune missiles. They practiced this tactic earlier in the week with a smaller ship to see reaction & response times.

#3. Never mind that Ukraine is caught between the corruption and ambitions of the U.S. and the new U.S.S.R. Russia, or all the security guarantees for the last 30 years. Ukraine has every reason to think the U.S. is a bigger bunch of snakes right now.

All N.A.T.O. has to do is keep sending weapons, money, supplies and humanitarian aid. The Ukrainians can win this on their own, without direct U.S. support. For the last six weeks while "conservatives" have been claiming "neocons" pushing for war, no one is actually pushing for direct U.S. military action in Ukraine. No one. Exaggeration and hyperbole are not reality.

How did it become the duty of American patriots to be patriots of Ukraine as well?

You can “slobber Ukraine” if you please, I’ll pass.

Looks like naval ships can be taken out rather easy. What chance do our ships have in the Persian Gulf? Iran has the best the Russians would sell them. All this cheering about the loss of a Russian warship makes me think Putin is right and we really are at war with Russia now.

“Unless that American is conservativer-than-thou and want to virtue signal that he is against something Biden is for.”

It seems that some people think that, since Putin has quoted a Bible verse once in a while and is anti LGBTQWERTY, then he is a “good Christian” and any atrocity he does is justifiable. These are the same people who would condemn you for the slightest sin while they become contortionists in justifying Putin. If this is what “Christian conservative” means (it isn’t really), then who would want it?

Worry Not—soon Americans will be fighting Russians hand to hand. Its going to be great fun—all the marching men and propaganda—singing “Over There” and all that. Not so much when they bring back the draft and rationing (its coming folks). Then when things don’t go so right—the fun will stop and when soldiers shoot down the peace protestors and strip Americans of what few rights they still have—saboteurs can come over the border as well as illegals. Them—maybe all the flag waving will seem a bit foolish.

#27. Nope. Not needed. Just give Ukraine the weapons, let them deal with it.

Apparently the Russkis’ ship damage control is as effective as the Japanese approach was during WW2; i.e., very poor. IJN carriers at Midway burned to the waterline after a few bomb hits.

Neptun missile is a Ukrainian-built antiship missile for which Ukraine was seeking export orders. So this isn’t US aid.

The thing was just introduced into service last year so the Ukes cant have many of them.

#31. Correct on all points. Ukraine has its own arms industry. The Neptune is a copy of the Russian KH-35 which is similar to the U.S. Harpoon. The U.K. has said it will provide Harpoon missiles to Ukraine. How they will get there I don't know.

Well, I think Pooty-poot’s big speech on the eve of his invasion where he outright stated his intent to re-establish the USSR has a lot to do with it.

Just a reminder, we had a deadly Cold War with those bastards for 45+ years.

#32. Putin has made it clear he wants a new USSR and new Cold War. The sooner the U.S. and NATO admit it and make policies to deal with it the better.

That cold war ended over 30 years ago. And they have gone out of their way up until now to offer hands of friendship.

We had a long bitter war with Vietnam and now they are not an enemy. We had two brutal world wars with Germany, but in 1975 had a person expressed that Germany was our enemy he would have looked idiotic.

And as far as loyalty to Ukraine, that ratty nation has four times as many lobbiests in DC as the Saudis. The Ukes have flooded DC and bribed congressfools everywhere. They ran a spy in the White House. They launched the Trump as a Russian spy lies. They supported the impeachments.

I have not seen Ukraine do anything except grub for money and bring their corruption to DC.

Be a patriot of Ukraine and “slobber Ukraini” all you want because over 30 years ago we were enemies of the USSR.

As an American patriot, I’m sympathetic to any patriots willing to risk their lives for their freedom and independence.

Heck, these could have literally been from a pre-production run of maybe a dozen (3 x 4 missiles per battery) to iron out production line glitches and / or do extended testing, of which a little has been done, I believe.

More correctly an upgrade to the KH-35. We’d maybe call it a new “block”? Has greater range and new electronics. It’d be interesting to know just how good those electronics are...

Russian CIWS ship stuff always seemed really wonky, they were having guys standing outside with a big bullseye target as the main defense of incoming missiles.

Glad to see nothing’s changed.

What about the people in Donbass for 8 years trying to protect themselves from the Kiev coup and its nazi militias.
