It will take way more than a generation for the world to respect Russia. Sweden is abandoning two centuries of neutrality and will join NATO in response to Putin’s butchery in Ukraine. Likewise Finland, inventor of Finlandization, will be joining NATO in the coming weeks. All thanks to the blundering mass murder of Putinist Russia.
Yeah, if Putin’s main goal was to prevent a NATO expansion, especially near Russia’s borders, he really screwed up.
After I posted I thought the same- it will take more than a generation. Decades.
We know civilians get killed in war -it’s awful and not often purposeful- but only savages deliberately target them. What Rissia has shown the world has changed economic and cultural conditions throughout Europe. It affects more than we can see today. It also serves as a powerful lesson in mass intimidation and deception. Many thousands of Russians willingly accept Putin’s lies.
It’s a horrible nightmare.
