It is effectively a duopoly, and Google Android isn't any better.
My phone is provided by my employer. I would look at a Linux (not android) based phone if I had to get one for myself, but then looking at $$$.

They count on such loyalists to remain loyal regardless of their invasive social mandates.
I have never owned, or will own, an Apple product.

You can always gradually phase them out. The iPhone breaks down, just replace it with something else, etc.
