After over a month of waiting, I’m still on the waitlist as #439,681
I’m #134,000 and still waiting. I signed up day before launch.
I gave up and deleted the app. 1 month is inexcusable. GETTR, gab, and Parler were fully functional immediately after signing up. Never had to wait over a month to get on an app.
A total disaster.
It's basically Twitter with nicer people. For the most part, people follow back. There are a lot of follow-and-follow-back trains - mainly people helping newbies get connected. I think I'm seeing less of those over the past week though.
I haven't put a lot of effort into the app, and I am approaching 2000 followers - I've followed back everyone. Trump has 847K followers, and that's probably a good guess at the number of active users who have made it in. Someone on there was tracking Trump followers as a gauge of how quickly new people were being let in - his follower number was increasing by about 20K a day.
There are a few trolls, but people tend to ignore them. There have been some bugs, but they are resolved quickly. Still, I can see why they chose to slowly increase the users, rather than throw open the floodgates.
There are some National/News type of accounts, some politicians, some organizations. I think that number will grow eventually.
Waiting to be let into a social media app was annoying, but it's fun once you get in.
I suspect there is a LOT of ‘vetting’ going on so that they can weed out potential spammers and autobots designed to crash the system
I am GLAD they are taking their time and not letting just anyone sign up.
Parler had (or maybe still has) that problem- each post would immediately get dozens of spambot messages in the comment section. It made it unusable.
I’m not at all surprised. Trump must have hired the same type of people for Truth Social that he appointed as advisors - yes-men when he interviews them, and no-men behind Trump’s back when they get hired.
This is Trump’s legacy - great pronouncements, but appointing staff that were actually working against his agenda.
So sad. Trump shot himself in the foot every time he ignorantly appointed advisors that were in fact opposed to him. These appointments were never going to advance his agenda, and actually ended up working against him.
Looks like he’s doing the same thing with picks for Truth Social. How can such a successful man be so totally inept with picking his staff?
I’m going for DeSantis, a man grounded in reality.
Not sure that I even have a #. Their biggest mistake was making android users feel like they’ve been “othered”. I signed up day one. Not sure I even care.
