Because the safety of the West vis a vis Russia is my business. And yours. It affects us and our fellow citizens. The safety of Ukrainians is none of your damn business. This is very very simple, even you can understand it if you try hard.
Mine too! Which is why I oppose Russia taking over random European countries, threatening NATO, and violating every arms agreement they have ever signed. Same thing for China.
